Crashes involving motorcycles or mopeds killed 124 people in Indiana in 2007. These fatalities consisted of 112 motorcycle operators, nine motorcycle passengers, one driver of another (non-motorcycle) vehicle, and two passengers in other vehicles. The Center for Criminal Justice Research recently released a report, Indiana Traffic Safety Facts: Motorcycles 2007, that examines motorcycle collisions within Indiana, including fatality and injury rates among riders, alcohol-related collisions, helmet use, licensing statistics, primary factors in motorcycle collisions, and the geography of motorcycle collisions in the state.
