Policy Choices for Indiana's Future Featured in Northwest Indiana News

If Indiana politicians are looking for the real issues the state needs to address during the 2012 state elections, the Indiana University Public Policy Institute plans to have some suggestions.

The institute's Director John Krauss said the Policy Choices for Indiana's Future project grew out of the Kernan-Shepard report on how to make government more modern and efficient. Indiana Chief Justice Randall Shepard, who headed that report with former Gov. Joe Kernan, was named co-chairman of the policy choices project with Mark Miles, chief executive officer of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership.

Krauss said the goal is to help prime the discussion in a bipartisan way and "raise issues that will not get resolved in the short term but need to be thought of in the long term." The institute will issue its findings early next year.
