Traffic Safety study finds decrease in accidents, injuries among teen drivers

July 05, 2015

Each year, the Institute, in collaboration with the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute and the Governor's Council on Impaired & Dangerous Driving, analyzes vehicle crash data from the Automated Reporting Information Exchange System (ARIES) maintained by the Indiana State Police.

The Indianapolis Star and South Bend Tribune columns have cited the Institute's June 2013 report, which found that from January 1, 2009, through December 31, 2012, younger drivers had 31 percent fewer crashes and experienced a nearly 40 percent drop in injuries.
