Institute Point-in-Time Count cited in Indianapolis Recorder

October 23, 2015

An Indianapolis Recorder story on the voting rights of incarcerated and homeless individuals in Indiana cited the Institute's 2015 Point-in-Time Count of people experiencing homelessness in Marion County.

The 2015 report counted 1,666 homeless people in the city with about a quarter of them (416) reported having felony convictions. The Institute's Point-in-Time Count also lists incarceration among the top three causes of homelessness in Indianapolis.

Since 2007, the Institute has partnered with the Coalition for Homelessness Intervention & Prevention to assess the current needs of homeless individuals in Marion County and identify any program service gaps through an annual Point-in-Time Count.
