Congratulations to Institute graduate assistants Whitney Fields and Ashley Sankari for winning the William H. Plater Civic Engagement Medallion. Fields and Sankari were two of 12 SPEA IUPUI students chosen for the award, which is given to students who have demonstrated efforts toward impacting civic impact and engagement.

In her role as graduate assistant, Fields, MPA'16, has conducted and edited researching about the lack of civic knowledge in the U.S. for the Indiana University Center for Civic Literacy.

Sankari, MSCJPS'16, began working as an Institute graduate assistant in August 2014. Sankari's work has focused on the Institute's Homeless Count, an ongoing project that assesses the needs of homeless individuals in Marion County and identifies program service gaps.
