Institute researchers collaborate with Governor's Council to gather public input

June 24, 2016

In December 2014, the IU Public Policy Institute began work with the Indiana Governor’s Council for People with Disabilities to gather input from the public to develop the Council’s 2017-2021 State Plan.

Senior Researcher Laura Littlepage and Senior Policy Analyst John Marron collaborated with the Council to facilitate four town hall meetings to discuss topics such as health care, transportation, employment, and community support. Marron and Littlepage also facilitated a board retreat, where board members identified goals and objectives, as well as focus groups of practitioners and advocates to gain feedback and identify action steps.

The Council is now seeking public input on the goals and objectives listed in the five-year plan, which addresses the availability of services for individuals with disabilities and their families in the state. Click here to read the plan.
