Development of an Integrated Land-Use Transportation Model for Indiana

Services: Analytical studies, Geographic information systems

Research Areas: Housing & Community Development, Land Use & Environment

In 2005-2007 for the Indiana Department of Transportation, the Center will expand an enhanced version of its LUCI model to cover the entire state and integrate the TransCAD-based statewide travel demand model. LUCI (the Land Use in Central Indiana model), uses information about environmental factors, the presence of utilities, access to employment, and transportation infrastructure to estimate the conversion of vacant land to urban use.

Center researchers will also investigate the potential use of the results of the Integrated Transportation Land Use Modeling system study.

The expanded model will provide decision-makers with an improved basis for assessing the impacts of major transportation projects and significant land use changes.
