The Heritage Fund, the Community Foundation of Bartholomew County, and the Community Education Coalition are in the midst of an ambitious educational initiative called Economic Opportunities through Education by 2015 (EcO15). The objectives are to improve educational attainment of area residents, build a regional learning system in specific fields, and enhance leadership by forming new connections and synergies among the community foundations in the ten-county region.
EcO15 is creating a regional system of life-long learning by connecting the residents of ten counties within rural Southeast Indiana to better economic opportunities through education by the year 2015 and beyond. EcO15 phase one invested $38 million in infrastructure and common support services with an overarching goal of helping each person in southeast Indiana move up at least one level in their education, training or job placement within the region’s three strongest economic clusters: advanced manufacturing, health care, and hospitality/tourism.
PPI partnered with Johnson Grossnickle and Associates to conduct an independent evaluation, including recommendations for next steps in the process. For more information you may visit the Economic Opportunities 2015 website (EcO15 Initiative).
