Recovery Works

Service: Program evaluation

Research Areas: Criminal Justice, Public Safety

The Center for Criminal Justice Research, a research center within the Indiana University Public Policy Institute at the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at IUPUI, is working with the Division of Mental Health and Addiction within the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration to conduct an evaluation of Indiana's Recovery Works program during a three-year period.

Recovery Works is a forensic treatment program designed to provide support services to those without insurance coverage. The intent of the program is to divert low-level offenders from incarceration to community services by promoting recovery through community support and treatment/intervention services. Recovery Works also aims to increase the availability of specialized mental health treatment and recovery services in the community for those who may otherwise face incarceration. Treatment and/or recovery services are intended to supplement community supervision strategies to decrease recidivism
