  • Policy analysis

    Developing policy for any group or organization requires a careful consideration of the available options and the impact those options would deliver. The IU Public Policy Institute helps governments and organizations assess policy choices to determine which course will most likely achieve an identified goal. The Institute offers this expertise in two ways: analysis of policy is an analytical and descriptive process for explaining policies and their development; analysis for policy is a prescriptive process focused on the formation of policies and proposals.

    A key consideration for any venture, policy, program, or activity is the impact it has or will have on the economy of a particular place, area or region. To help organizations tell that story, the IU Public Policy Institute conducts economic impact analyses, gathering data, and information to develop informed economic impact estimates for initiatives such as new businesses, new locations for existing entities, the construction of significant facilities (such as hospitals), public-sector investments, changes in laws and regulations, and more.
