This project is a continuation of the age- and ability-planning work with the IU Center on Aging and Community and the Indiana Philanthropy Alliance (formerly the Indiana Grantmakers Alliance). The work is made possible through funding from the national Grantmakers in Aging Foundation. PPI responsibilities during the second year of this project include the following:

  • Working with IU-CAC, the Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County, and other local stakeholders to support the inclusion of age-and ability-friendly concepts in the city of Bloomington's Growth Policy Plans
  • Working with relevant state agencies, through a facilitated process, to develop a community resource guide that can be utilized by Indiana communities seeking to advance age-and ability-friendly concepts through their local community development efforts
  • Providing technical assistance, in conjunction with other program partners, to local communities seeking to advance age-and ability-friendly communities concepts in their applications for funding to state agencies
  • Working with IPA to advance Indiana's philanthropic sector's understanding of philanthropy's role in supporting the development of age-and ability-friendly communities through outreach programs, including IPA's Fall Forums, webinars, issue briefs, and other correspondence
  • Supporting the activities of all program partners through developing and disseminating data analyses, researching policies and best practices, advancing coalition-building activities, and participating in program planning and implementation sessions
  • Drafting the final grant report for GIA
  • Coordinating program-related activities of the various units of Indiana University that may be engaged in this program (i.e., through MOUs, engage and coordinate remuneration for the engagement of IU-CAC)
  • Managing relevant subcontracts as directed by IPA
